Last weekend we went to visit friends in Bournemouth (planned to coincide nicely with going to Portsmouth). We had a lovely time there, including a brilliant day out at the beach. The whole weekend was very peaceful. Our friends have four girls, from age 3 to 10, which meant that Bee was really looking forward to going to visit them (he has seen them once before).
Just before we went we were on the phone to them and they said that they had just started home educating their middle two, so we went down there with the added excitement of being able to talk lots about HE. We took with us a selection of books about HE and some of our best books for the children. I (Matt) had some really nice times reading books to a pile of children on the sofa.
Mip was in his own world at the beach, building all sorts of things in sand and usually doing it on his own. He is a very intense little boy and has clearly got a lot of ideas in his head that he is thinking through. For quite a while he was simply lying and rolling in the sand, so I asked him if he wanted to be buried in it, which he enjoyed. Our friends littlest was looking on longingly, so I asked her if she wanted to be buried too and she did.
We had to keep a close eye on JJ as he is still very much of a wanderer when he gets an idea of somewhere he wants to go or something he wants to do, but with some extra adults around that was a bit easier.
The final picture is of two of the family we stayed with…
